Do you offer concessionary sessions for people on low income?
Yes, I have a small number of concessionary spaces. Please get in touch if you feel this may apply to you. Concessionary rates are subject to individual circumstances and available space.
How do I get started?
If you’re interested in working with me, just send me an email! I offer discounted consultation sessions (£45 online and £50 for in person) so that you can get a taste of what working together will look like with no strings attached. Then if you decide you’d like to continue our work together and I feel I am the right practitioner to help you, we will decide a suitable day/time to meet either weekly or bi-weekly.
What will my first session typically look like?
The first session is about me getting to know you, and you getting to know me. Building a therapeutic relationship is emotionally intimate and it needs to feel right on both sides. I will ask you what has brought you to therapy at this time. We may talk about your intentions and goals for the work. I may ask you a bit about your background. It really depends on you and what is most pressing. We will also discuss any questions you may have about the contract and how you’d like to move forward.
Do I need to commit to weekly or bi-weekly therapy?
If you are a new client, it is recommended that you attend weekly therapy, as this aids in building a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship. Bi-weekly therapy can work well for longer term clients who feel better but would still like ongoing support. Having a consistent rhythm can help therapy to be more effective for you, as it means you can see patterns in the work, whilst also encouraging you to attend even in times of resistance (which is often when we need it most!). However, these are only my recommendations, and you are free to decide when and how often you’d like to attend.
How do I pay for sessions and what are your payment terms?
Payments are made securely through Stripe online payment system, by following the link sent in the booking email. Some form of payment is required to confirm the session at least 48 hours before the agreed session time. If payment hasn’t been made within this timeframe, your slot may be released and may be given to somebody else.
What is your cancellation policy?
The full session fee is due if cancelled within 48 hours of the session time. If an alternative time can be arranged the same business week of the original session time, no charge will be made, with the exception of in person sessions rescheduled within 24 hours of the session time which will incur a £15 fee to cover room costs. Rescheduling sessions is dependent on availability and cannot be guaranteed. I am unable to reschedule or reimburse no shows.
How long are therapy sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes long.
Can I come at the same day/time each week?
If it feels clinically relevant for you to attend at the same day/time every week, I will try to keep the same slot available for you each week, although this isn’t always possible.
What is your therapeutic approach?
I work in an integrative way, informed by relational, transpersonal and somatic approaches to therapy. Please click on “What is integrative therapy” page under “About” to learn more about my approach.
Will my sessions be confidential?
As a member of BACP I am bound by their Ethical Framework to protect a client’s confidentiality. Therefore, everything that we discuss is confidential except in certain circumstances, which are listed below:
I reserve the right to break confidentiality if I think that you have become a danger to yourself or other people. I will attempt to discuss this with you and my supervisor first, but this may not always be possible.
For legal and ethical reasons, I am not bound by confidentiality if in good faith I feel that I can assist in the prevention or detection of a serious crime, this includes safeguarding issues regarding children or vulnerable adults, crimes regarding substantial financial gains and losses, and acts of terrorism.
In certain cases where you may have declared a clear and definite intention to end your life, or if I have reason to believe this to be true, we may after a careful discussion agree to put in place a ’keep safe policy’ where you will agree to take certain measures, such as get in touch with your mental health crisis team, or talk to the Samaritans as a way of safeguarding and ensuring your safety.
Are you insured?
